Productivity of Assembly Line in Garments Industry|How to Improved

Productivity of sewing assembly line can be improved in Garments Industry by the following technique:

    • Split the task: We can split the task so that complete units are processed in two workstations.
    • Share the task: The task can be shared so an adjacent workstation does part of the work. This differs from the split task in the first option because the adjacent acts to assist not to do some units containing the entries task.
    • Use parallel workstation: It may be necessary to assign the task to two or more workstations that would operate in parallel.

  • Improving non-bottleneck process: A non-bottleneck process is any resource whose capacity is greater than the demand placed on it. A non-bottleneck contains idle time and it can produce more than is needed.
  • Use more skilled worker: A more skill worker can work faster than other worker and may be able to meet the desire cycle time.
  • Redesign: It may possible to redesign the product or process to reduce the tasks time slightly.
  • Developed method: Develop methods for achieving productivity improvements such as soliciting ideas from workers, studying how other firms have increase productivity and re-examining the way work is done.
  • Remove bottleneck from the process: A bottleneck is define as any resource whose capacity is less than the demand placed upon it. A bottleneck is a constraint within the system that limits throughout. A bottleneck may be a machine or a specialized tool or scarce of highly skilled worker.
